As conversational AI is increasingly integrated into our digital tools, it reshapes our behaviour and interaction habits. This project, “Studying Human Interactions with AI Chatbots” is a design led-inquiry into the depths of the influence of this technology on humans. It investigates the how these systems are designed and how they foster trust and reliance. Through qualitative research, this project identifies a core conflict in how people engage with AI Chatbots. Individuals adopt these tools for efficiency but are dragged into the feedback loops of affirmation and dependency, that too from a machine. This is because these systems are trained to be consistently agreeable so that humans tend to engage with them more. “Think Twice: A Speculative Stimulation,” is an interactive web-based narrative built to make the invisible consequences of user interaction tangible. Through this stimulation, the user’s live interaction with a chatbot shapes the progression and outcome of the visual narrative. This design deliberately externalizes the user’s decision-making process, compelling them in witnessing their search for validation or convenience. This helps in making people aware of the consequences of constant Human-AI interaction. It contributes a novel method for exploring the ethical dimensions of AI by making the invisible influence of algorithmic systems visible. This stimulation is designed to spread awareness and foster more informed and discerning approach to AI engagement.
