PetCrate: Using interactive technology to improve the animal welfare particular in the present pet boarding problems.


In last few years, Animal-computer Interaction has been growing as a new field in developing technology system to improve animal’s wellbeing. The Animal-computer Interaction considers the animal users as their part of design stakeholders, and concentrate on the technology being used by the non-human users. (Pons et al, 2016) <br/> PetCrate is a project explores how interactive technology can be used into pet care, with a specific focus on the pet kennels and boarding service. The objective of this project is to create a technological space to support pets’ good care especially when their owners have to leave their pets behind (e.g. like go for a trip, illness, or some unexpected situation). And an assistant application is designed for pet owner and carers to check pets condition and improve living experience in the pet house. Pets travel policy is not really developed and still today many flight companies still remains conservative in animal transportation. Transporting pets is expensive and not immune to accidents. I therefore decided to concentrate on the boarding of the pets with the aim of setting the owners’ mind at rest, perhaps even improving the work efficiency for kennel technician and veterinarian.
