Interior smart space
In this project, I explored the concept of ‘smart space’ through discussion and installation. I personally defined what ‘smart’ means based on my own experience: it should be 1) able to offer user an easy, intuitive way of control and 2) capable of performing meaningful and useful tasks without explicit commands from user. Another word, It should at least have two functions: easy to control and automatically perform tasks based on user behavior prediction. I built an installation that allows user to interact with normal daily equipment or devices through hands-free gesture control to demonstrate the idea of using nontraditional human-computer interaction for controlling in a smart way. Unfortunately, because of the limitation on both time and resources, I am unable to extend the installation further with the capability of behavior prediction. However, I discussed about the idea of how to do so and possible implementation in my thesis.
