The Lotus reminder is an installation that informs user when time’s up. It works by reserving a room on a shared Google Calendar, when the redetermined period time’s up on Google calendar, the tangible lotus flower will comes out from a leaf-shaped box (the Lotus Reminder) and blooming to remind user that they have to leave the room because others is going to use this room for the oncoming hours. The goal of this project is trying to solve the problem of mutual-influence between students and staffs, when they are using a shared studio CS2-045 at the same time at the University of Limerick.: It’s almost always an accident, there are some students and they are just walk around the lecture theatre until they happen upon an unoccupied room to grab. Unfortunately, it's often the case that while the room is currently unoccupied, but another meeting is scheduled by the lectures or staffs to start very soon. In a few minutes, the rightful occupants show up and discover that someone is already using their room! There is another accident that two or more group using a same working space, one is students, for example, who is printing 3D models and chatting with each other, meanwhile there is another group who is holding a meeting currently in a same working studio.
