Black to White: Single User Lighting Booth for Perceptual Experience

The characteristics of light provide to beings knowledge of space, time and warmth. For this project the idea was implemented structuring a concept generally around the human sensory system and particularly the human vision and its mutual functionality with the brain. How can technology distribute to expand our knowledge of what ‘self’ is. The purpose of this study is to demonstrate the diversity of perceptions. Many aspects play role on how people experience their surroundings. The importance of the body and its embedment in its surroundings is not dependent on physical reality, but from personal experience, past knowledge and of the physical structure and condition of the eyes and the brain. On a per-established setting that serves a cognitive experience the purpose is to answer whether this technology can be utilized by everyone and how can each one of us can take advantage of its dynamic environment.
The booth is a single user, single application operating system. Only one person can be the user interacting with the operating system and only one of its applications is using. The machine acts according to the specifications set or adjusted by the user. The selection of colour/s, luminosity, diffusion and speed, is up to the beholder.
The idea is the beholder being the only person experiencing what is being performed in the booth. It can be used in various environments and in different positions; according to the user’s preference. It can be utilized for various purposes. Depending on the reasons one would use the booth,  this technology can be used specifically programmed to serve a particular need. For entertaining purposes, meditation, whereas in a different occasion it could be used for lighting therapy and so on.
